MPA Results!

2/26/2014

The PA Band received an overall Superior rating at the District 5 Music Performance Assessment today! The scores were: I, I, II, and II in sight reading.

This was the Band's first time participating for ratings at MPA (possibly the first time in history, certainly the first time in the past 15-20 years, for sure).

Congratulations, Band! A job well done!

MPA & AISA Festival Itineraries

1. After-School Practices
I am adding a few more after-school rehearsals to make sure that our performances at MPA & AISA are our best. Hopefully you got my text about this a few days ago.
Wed. 2/19 - until 4:30
Thurs. 2/20 - until 4:00
Mon. 2/24 - until 4:00
Tues. 2/25 - until 4:00

2. Concert Attire
My list says that every girl has a concert dress or will be taking one home today (Friday). If you need alterations or hemming, please do that on your own. Please remember these dresses have to last us several years, so do not to cut anything! If you need the name of someone to do this, send me a message. We will wear these on Wednesday, Feb. 26th and Friday, Feb. 28th. No jewelry or accessories with your dress when we are performing. You may wear modest stud earrings, if you wish. No hoops or dangly things.

Other things girls will need:
- SHOES - Dark-colored (preferably black flats)
- Sturdy hanger
- Garment bag

GUYS will wear a solid black button-up shirt (no tie) with black pants, black socks and black shoes.

5. AISA Honor Band Participants - Hotel Details
Parents, if your child is participating in the AISA honor band, please see the most recent email concerning hotel reservations. Please let me know who your child will be rooming with as soon as possible. I also need to know which parents will be driving and spending the night at the hotel with us. We really need 1 adult per room, if at all possible. I will be driving the church bus, but it will be tight with 15 kids, instruments, and luggage. The honor band schedule is on the Members Only page.

6. Charges
A current list of who owes money for different things Please check to see if your name is listed.

7. Auxiliary Tryouts
Majorette candidates, please remember to turn in your Auxiliary Handbook Agreement Form. I put this on the band website under the Documents tab if you need to print a new one. Also, I need a copy of the lyrics to your tryout music by next Friday, Feb. 21st.

2/1/2014

Congratulations to Sarah, Logan, and Natasha for trying out for All-State today!

Sarah and Natasha made District honor band and Natasha is an alternate for All-State! These are the first representatives from Pickens Academy that we have in this honor band in over a decade (possibly longer)! Congratulations! We are proud of all of you!
