I hope everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable spring break! As you will see below, we have a busy April ahead. I need 2-3 parents to be in charge of getting everything set for the Fish Fry (email me). Band Camp schedule is at the end!
1. Solo & Ensemble Festival Registration Deadline - Wednesday, April 2nd
Remember, EVERYONE is required to play at least 1 solo or ensemble for me for a passoff grade (100 pts possible).
*If you participate in the Festival (after school Tues., April 22nd @ TCHS), you will automatically get a 90 on your piece.
*If you earn a superior (I) on your piece, you will automatically get a 125 on your piece.
*If you earn a superior (I) on more than one piece, you will receive +25 per superior rating.
The deadline to register for the FESTIVAL is this Wednesday, April 2nd. The registration fee is $5 per event (i.e., solo = $5, duet = $2.50 per person, etc.). You are not required to attend the festival, but there are incentives if you do (not to mention the musical experiences you will gain).
The deadline to play your piece(s) for me is Friday, April 25th if you are not going to the festival.
2. PTO Concert - Thursday, April 17th
Be in your concert attire seated on the stage by 5:30. The concert will begin at 6:00. (THIS IS A REQUIRED PERFORMANCE.)
3. Fish Fry Fundraiser - Thursday, April 17th
This is our last fundraiser and your last chance to meet your $300 quota for the school year. Tickets will go home very soon – hopefully by the end of the week. It's the end of the month and people are just getting their paychecks, so go ahead and make a list and start selling NOW! Tickets are $8 each. I need 2-3 parents to be in charge of getting things together for this. If that's you, please email me. I will email a schedule for you to signup to help prepare plates, etc. soon. Every family is required to work either the fish fry OR help at the band banquet. Students may help work the fish fry between 3:00-5:15 if enough parents cannot.
4. Band Banquet - Saturday, April 26th
The Band Banquet will begin with dinner at 6:30 followed by awards. The dance will be from 8-11:00. I will send out more info about costs for guests & t-shirts soon.
Graduation practice Monday, May 19th at 1:00 (during school). Graduation is Friday, May 23rd. Be in your concert attire seated in the auditorium by 5:30. (THIS IS A REQUIRED PERFORMANCE.)
6. BAND CAMP SCHEDULE!
I am sending this to you now so that you can make your plans AROUND this schedule. Missing just ONE day of band camp is the equivalent of missing NINE days of band class. It is absolutely imperative that you are here every single day. It's hard to catch up after missing 9 days of instruction. If you missed 9 days of math class, you'd be an entire chapter behind. We had a very high number of absences during camp this year. If you miss camp for any reason whatsoever, you will not march in the first performance of the season, period. PARENTS, please remember this schedule when you are making vacation plans and doctor's appointments!
