During school, Wednesdays are still sacred band days. Exhaust every resource to be at school and after-school practices, especially on Wednesdays. We will continue to have after-school practices on Wednesdays and Thursdays until 5:00. If you have to make doctor appointments, etc. during school hours please schedule those for Tuesdays.
5. Conditioning for Band Camp
Hopefully, you've been spending enough time outside doing physical activities this summer to allow your body time to adjust to working in the heat. It would also be a good idea to start drinking more water than you usually do so that your body will be hydrated. If you have not been practicing your instrument this summer, it is very important that you begin playing again. Find the halftime music on members only and start practicing! Spend 20-30 minutes every day getting your embouchure muscles back in shape. Play SOMEthing. Do not expect to play well the first few days of camp if you have not opened your instrument case since graduation. It just can't happen.
I'm excited to kick off another great year!
