1. Uniforms
A huge thank you to everyone who has come to pick up a uniform! I think there are only 7-8 people who do not have one yet. I will be at school Tuesday & Thursday from 9-12:00 this coming week. Remember that if you are making alterations to your uniform, DO NOT CUT OR IRON ANYTHING! Ironing will burn and melt the fabric. 2. Schedule for Picture Day - Friday, 7/26 This will be a short, but very busy morning for us. Please arrive dressed in your uniform and ready to take a picture BEFORE 8:00 so that we can stay on schedule. Do NOT bring your hat or cape. Do not bring your instrument unless you are having individual pictures made (you may want to have it in your picture). 7:50 - Arrive dressed and ready 8:00 - Group picture at baseball field, auxiliaries, individuals following 9:00 - Go over Band Handbook in band room 9:30 - Magazine fundraiser rep ~10:00 - Dismiss (everyone except percussion) 10:30 - Drumline placement auditions begin 3. July 29-30 - 2:00-5:30 All Percussion July 31-August 2 - 8:00-5:30 ALL BAND & AUXILIARY MEMBERS August 5-7 - 8:00-5:30 ALL BAND & AUXILIARY MEMBERS August 8, 9, 12 - 3:00-6:00 ALL BAND & AUXILIARY MEMBERS 5. Attendance! Attendance at camp is mandatory because of the amount of work we accomplish for the upcoming season. Missing even one day puts you very behind. You will run 2 laps per day if you are absent for any reason. No one may leave campus during band camp for any reason. 6. Conditioning for Band Camp At band camp, we will spend a good amount of time outside. It will be hot and you will get very sweaty and stink. Do yourself a favor NOW and begin spending time outside doing physical activities to allow your body time to adjust to working in the heat. It would also be a good idea to start drinking more water than you usually do so that your body will be hydrated. If you have not been practicing your instrument this summer, it is VERY important that you begin playing again. Find the halftime music on the website and start practicing! Do not expect to play as well the first few days of camp if you have not been keeping your chops in shape this summer. It just can't happen. 7. Band Camp Checklist Things to Bring to Band Camp: -your instrument -flip folder & lyre -ALL music (including any old marching band or concert band music that you still have that needs filing) -pencil -reeds (at least 3), valve oil, slide grease, drumsticks -water cooler/jug -lace-up, closed-toe tennis shoes and socks - NO sandals, Toms, etc. -deodorant -sunscreen -sunglasses -water/gatorade -snacks for short breaks -lunches for full days If you need any of the music supplies listed above (or any others, like extra flip folder pages, sticks, neck straps, brace guards, etc.) email me a list of what you need and I will order it.
